BMW really came to be recognised as producers of performance saloons after the formation of their famous M Division in the 1970’s and a real game changer for them was the launch of the E30 M3 in 1986 which went on to gain numerous championship victories in touring car racing. Road-Test Review:

During our road test, we extensively evaluated our non-resonated valved cat-back system in real-world driving conditions. We found minimal intrusive drone, even when the engine was under load on inclines. When driven casually, the cabin environment remained audibly refined and tame, offering excellent daily drivability.

However, this transformed when Sport mode was engaged and the throttle pressed, unleashing the system’s full soundtrack. The result was an impressive, sporty, and aggressive growl and bark throughout the rev range.
